GeoTIFF is a newly emerging interchange standard, which permits the addition of Geographic information such as projections, datums, etc, associated with remote sensing or cartographic raster data.

Nearly all the imagery on this site is UTM, NAD27 (Clarke 1866), which is the current Forest Service standard. All download geoTIFFs use this standard.
